"Are not two sparrow sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid ; you are worth more than many sparrows" Matthew 10:29-31

RambleRumble

I got to thinking, what if my blog had no purpose.
What if no one read this?
What if every moment I spent on this blog was for no reason but to waste my time.

What if no one hears the prettiest song ever written?
What if no one ever knows the song you sing?

What if everytime you tried at something, you knew no one would know if you suceeded or not?

So, the question remains to be effected or effective...

If no one hears your song- sing it anyway.
If no one is there to watch you dance- dance anyway.

When the crowds are gone, and silence takes it's place- do it anyway.

Tattoos

As controversial as they are to some people, tattoos are an art-form, and some are super interesting!
So, I have put together some that I thought were either: weird/pretty/interesting/thought provoking.

Not sure the meaning, but it's kinda weird and interesting-

love it

Tangible Art

So, I've decided to explore different forms of art and just give some interesting, unique, or pretty forms of the art. However, I want to take a more unconventional path, and study some forms that may go unnoticed or forgotten as an art form.

So, I decided to start with Architecture:

There are three forms of visual art: Painting is art to look at, sculpture is art you can walk around, and architecture is art you can walk through

Weather Changing

So, as I sit in Common Grounds with my button up sweater, Mexican Hot Chocolate, and The Weepies playing in the background, I can't help but absolutely love this weather!

I can not wait untill Christmas break!
For one, it will mean everything (including finals) is over for the semester! And, well to be honest this is not my favorite semester class-wise.

Also, I can't wait to go home and celebrate the holidays with my family and all that includes.
I can taste the pumpkin pie now, and smell the cinnamon scent in the air, and just see our Christmas tree covered in decorations we've accumulated over the years.

I think I will go listen to Christmas music now...

New Music Mania

So, this last week I went on a craze to find new music and found some awesome artists that I loved!

The Be Good Tanyas:

Their folk/bluegrass/indie music are complete with songs that I find full of artistic flare and true talent.
My personal favorite is "What are They Doing in Heaven Today?" .
Their songs are eerily somber, and remind me alot of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack with alot of blugrass roots especially with their use of banjo and fiddle.

The Wailin Jennys

The Wailin Jennys are a trio of soprano Ruth Moody, mezzo Nicky Mehta, and alto Heather Masse, their harmonic voices are angelically airy. My personal favorite is "Parting Glass" and "Beautiful Dawn". They too encompass bluegrass with their use of mandolin, fiddle, banjo, guitar, and standing bass.

Damien Rice

Damian Rice is an Irish singer/songwriter/musician who plays guitar, cello, violin, piano, and drums. He started out in a rock band and after they split, moved to Tuscany, Italy to take up farming (another reason why I love him!) He eventually went back to music (thank God!) He has a very intriguing style, again one that is pure talent, and not alot of bells and whistles. My personal favorites are "9 crimes" & "Volcano"

Gillian Welch

Gillian Welch, best known for her role in "I'll Fly Away" on the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack, is straight out of bluegrass country. Her southernly dry voice is surprisingly comforting against the melodic bluegrass tunes. My personal favorites are of course "I'll Fly Away" with Alison Krauss, "One More Dollar" and "Orphan Girl".
If you don't like bluegrass music, sorry Gillian probably isn't for you. Her songs are rich in bluegrass mechanics: mandolin, banjo, standing bass, and southern crooning.
She makes me think of sitting out on the back porch of my great-grandparents house, and my days when I played in fiddle contests.
I definetly recommend her music!
